Lodgepole

We always look forward to this time of year. Mostly because we get to go camping with some of our best friends... The Nielsens. Every year we have an amazing time and this year was no exception.

Lodgepole is located east of Heber City, but not quite up to Strawberry. We decided this year to stop at Dairy Keen in Heber City for some lunch. We had heard that they had gotten the Coke Freestyle machine, which made it even more enticing! So we stopped there, got our lunch and let Darek have some fun on the train. Alex was a little too "old" for it. :) After lunch, we headed up to camp. We got there before the Nielsens did, so we worked on setting up camp. We got our new tent up and all our sleeping bags and such inside. Shortly after, our friends got there and set up camp. The evening was nice. We had hot dogs and hamburgers and got in a game. Then the weather hit. It started pouring without hardly any warning. Then hailing. We were all huddled under a canopy for a while until we realized it probably wasn't going to stop. So we all headed in our tent/camper. We got to our tent and realized our sweet kids did not zip the tent all the way at the bottom, so we had some major water to clean up when we got in. It didn't do too much damage since that was our entrance and we didn't have anything sitting by the door. So as we're cleaning that up, Ryan looks over and notices the back door (which we weren't using) was also unzipped from the bottom about half way up by our adorable little Darek. Now that side did have stuff by it. Alex's mat got soaked, along with his pillow and a little on his sleeping bag (the only sleeping bag not water proof). It got the floor of the tent pretty good, so we got it cleaned up as well as we could. The rain stopped for a little bit and we came back out. But it started up again soon after and we headed in for the night. It rained all night long, so it made for a pretty long night without much sleep.

The next morning we woke up to beautiful weather. We got the water cleaned off everything and I went on a nice morning hike with Tammy, Kaylene and Alex. We came back and had a big breakfast (french toast, hash browns and bacon). We spent the rest of the day hiking, playing lots of games and just enjoying each others company. It was so relaxing and so fun. Our second night was much better, thanks to Advil PM.

Our 3rd day, we woke up and had breakfast and started packing everything up. We like to have everything pretty much packed up and then we sit and play a few games. We finished our trip with a game of Farkle and SkipBo. Another trip gone, but many memories made.

We are lucky to have friends like this! And we're lucky enough to get to go up with them again in August. Maybe even twice in August... and I'm already looking forward to it!
